Threat and Phishing Protection

Lucid Threat & Phishing Protection v2

We've partnered with DNSFilter, a leading DNS provider, to bring you Lucid TPPv2 (Threat & Phishing Protection Version 2). It's a brand new, and much improved version of our threat & phishing protection engine!

Do I need to do anything to take advantage of this great new service?

No, your Lucid Profile will be automatically moved over to TPPv2 and you will receive a notification when it happens.

What does TPPv2 give me?

TPPv2 blocks and protects you from the following threats and content categories:

 Enhanced Threat Protection

  • Botnet - Command and Control botnet hosts. Prevents receiving commands for already infected machines. Helps identify infected machines.

  • Crypto-mining - Sites which serve files or host applications that force the web browser to mine cryptocurrency, often utilizing considerable system, network, and power resources.

  • Malware - Malicious software including drop servers and compromised websites that can be accessed via any application, protocol or port. Includes drive by downloads and adware.

  • New Domains - Domains which have been registered in the last 30 days, which have a high probability of serving malicious resources

  • Phishing & Deception - Fraudulent websites that aim to trick users into handing over personal or financial information.

  • Proxy & Filter Avoidance - Sites that provide information or a means to circumvent DNS based content filtering, including VPN and anonymous surfing services.

     Category Blocking

The following categories are blocked by default:

  • Adult Content

  • P2P & Illegal

  • Hacking & Cracking

  • Terrorism & Hate

  • Weapons

 Ad Blocking

Some common ad services that track browsing history and may host malware, are being blocked.

Will I be able to browse the Internet like I did before?

Yes. In the unlikely event that a legitimate site that you attempt to browse to is blocked, you will see a page similar to one of the following pages:

If you see the above page and believe it to be an error, please choose the link and complete the form. We will be notified and will respond within 1 business day.

If you see the above page, the site is being blocked, but since you browsed to a secure site, we are unable to show the friendly block page. (This follows standard https security policy, which is a good thing!). If you wish to confirm that the page was blocked by Lucid, do the following:

Choose "Not Secure" then the following will appear:

Choose "Your connection to this site isn't secure" then the following will appear:

Choose the certificate icon then the following will appear:

If the "Organisation" is DNSFilter, then this confirms that Lucid blocked the page. If you feel this to be an error, please create a support ticket by choosing the "?" in the lower right corner of your portal.
